An exhibition of artworks by VM470/VM604 Advanced New Media Projects, with special guest, Samantha Cardoza, Riley Donigan, Patricio Gil Barrera, Sam Goldbloom, John Hindle, Danielle Marascalchi, Andrew Morris, Joey Salas, Sam Scholefield, Yue Shao, Kris Theorin, Patrick Westervelt, Sydney Wild, Lee Brown, Max Doyen, Thomas Dusek, Daniel Flanagan, Victoria Graf, Rosie Hamilton, Matt Henzel, Scott Hermenau, Isabel Kingsepp, Max Kolomatsky, Elizabeth Martin, Meredith Roman, Morgan Sage, Kilana Schwarze and Yuxin (Gigi) Xia.
Nina Fricker will be speaking on Thursday 2-4 in Ansin 312. All VM261 students are invited to attend.
Fricker has been working in the game industry for over 15 years, 8 of those at Insomniac. Up until two years ago her primary roles had been providing rigging and scripting support as a Character TD. Now she is leading the animation department in the North Carolina studio on VR game Edge of Nowhere.
Mission Statement: In the two and a half years since the protest of April 28, 2015, Emerson College has made only surface-level progress in response to demands made by students. While Emerson espouses “Inclusive Excellence” as a core value, the lack of substantial progress does not demonstrate a true commitment to implementing these values in the culture, climate, and curriculum of the college. Students of color and other marginalized groups continue to deal with microaggressions, bias, and discrimination while faculty and administration pat themselves on the back for minimal effort to combat the institutionalized racism that is present at this college.

Sweet Tooth is hosting Dean Kelly, a Pixar Artist to give a one hour talk and Q&A this Friday from 3-4pm in the Semel Theater.
Dean Kelly is the lead story artist on Coco, and a story artist on Incredibles 2 and Monsters University. He also worked on The Simpsons and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Join other women interested in XR (virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies), AI, and data sciences for networking, learning, and practical guidance for projects. This group is for Boston-area women developers, artists, designers, producers, educators, entrepreneurs, students and anyone interested in these transformative technologies. These meetups will offer an opportunity to connect with each other, test ideas/projects, find mentors and resources, and learn about how you can get involved in these exciting industries that are attracting amazing and talented women around the world.” While we do have a few men signed up in the meetup, we are trying to keep the focus on women and how to be an ally, and there will also be women-only events.

An installation of virtual reality and augmented reality projects by new media artist John Craig Freeman, Professor of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College, Boston.
John Craig Freeman, Professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College works in emergent digital media to create virtual and alternative reality installations that address social and political issues of currency. With his work, Freeman examines sites where the forces of globalization are impacting the lives of individuals. He seeks to expand the notion of public art by exploring how digital networked technology is transforming our sense of place. This exhibition features two of his recent subjects interpreted through three different projects: Chinatown Station with Service to Wuhan (2017); Virtual U.S./Mexico Border (2017); and Border Memorial: Frontera de los Muertos (2015).
